Day one at the International Tournament Madeira Island 2019 (PSA Challenger Tour 10), saw the majority of the top ranked players progress unscathed to round two of the competition. “Taking place at one of the most beautiful locations on tour”, in the words of Hannah Ridgard-Mason PSA Tour Director, the players raised to the expectations of the crowd and delivered some exciting squash. In the biggest upset of the day Owain Taylor (WAL) beat Roshan Bharos (NED) 3-1 (11-7, 11-3, 9-11, 11-9). The two hundred and fifth PSA ranked player managed to overcome the one hundred and twenty seventh in 71 minutes and therefore booking his place in round two where he will now face the third seeded player for this tournament Aditya Jagtap from India. Tom Ford (ENG) celebrated his return to competition with a solid 3-1 victory over fellow englishman Stuart MacGregor who made life very dificult to the former 60 ranked player in the world.
